Saturday marks the 120th Civil War between Oregon and Oregon State, with the Ducks on an eight-game win streak that they hope to uphold at Reser Stadium. The annual match-up between the Ducks and the Beavers is the seventh oldest rivalry in college football, dating back to 1894. Before it was the “Civil War”, it was called the “Oregon Classic” or “State Championship Game”.

Oregon leads the series 63-46-10. Six of the ten ties had a score of 0-0 (the most recent in 1983). The Ducks current win streak dates back to 2008.

In 1910 a post-game riot broke out, resulting in no athletic competition between the two teams in 1911. The following two Civil Wars were then played in Albany, as it was considered a “neutral” site.

The Platypus Trophy was awarded to the winning school from 1959 to 1961, and then was lost for more than 40 years. It resurfaced in a closet in UO’s McArthur Court in 2005, and starting in 2007, was awarded to the winning team's alumni association.

The voice of the Oregon Ducks, Don Essig, is an Oregon State graduate, while Mike Parker, long-time Beavers play-by-play broadcaster, is Oregon alum.
