Unique Campsites in Oregon's Willamette Natl. Forest
This camp provides access for equestrians to both wilderness and undeveloped roadless areas west of the Cascade crest including groves of conifers and meadows (campers without stock also welcome). Water is piped into trough for stock during the summer.
An incredibly scenic campground located on a bluff above the McKenzie River and Carmen Reservoir. It provides easy access to the McKenzie River Trail and Koosah (pictured) and Sahalie Falls.
A photographer's paradise! This high-elevation, primitive campground sits on pristine Scott Lake, where the snow capped volcanic peaks of the Three Sisters Mountains cast their reflection on clear days.
Waldo Lake is truly a gem, sitting at 5,414 feet elevation. It's one of the largest natural lakes in Oregon and one of the purest lakes in the world thanks to its lack of plant life and a ban on gasoline motors. On a calm day you can see to depths of 120 feet.

Lava River Cave, Bend 
Head to Central Oregon and explore the longest continuous lava tube in Oregon, which is part of the Newberry National Volcanic Monument. Measuring in at 5,211 feet (1,588 m) in length, the northwestern section of the cave is the longest continuous lava tube in the state of Oregon.
World's Largest Organism, Grant
Known locally as the "Humongous Fungus", the massive networked fungus growing beneath Malheur National Forest may be the largest and oldest life form still active on the planet. This gigantic mushroom has spent centuries eating its way across a huge swath of Oregon.
Portland's Shanghai Tunnels, Portland
From 1850 to 1941, Portland was considered one of the most dangerous ports in the world. It earned the moniker "Forbidden City of the West" due to the Shanghaiing trade and the white slavery that was carried out there. Preparing Your Home for the Winter Months

Winter is coming! No, it’s not just a Game of Thrones reference, but a reminder that the seasons are changing and the days are growing colder. As you bundle up, don't forget to also prepare your home for the winter months. Here's some ideas to get you started:

 
Clean your gutters: Remove any debris that has built up to ensure proper drainage. Water that sits can lead to moisture damage including the dreaded dry rot, which can be an expensive fix that’s easily avoided with a quick gutter cleaning!

Prepare your exterior faucets: Disconnect and drain garden hoses, turn off the water via shutoff valves located in your home or basement, and drain any water left in your exterior faucets. Finally, insulate any exposed pipes or faucets to prevent frozen pipes.

 
Have your fireplace inspected by a pro: Fireplaces and chimneys are involved in 42% of all home-heating fires, but all it takes is a little prep for a safe winter. Hire a chimney sweep to remove soot and debris, and to inspect the structure for potential damage. 

 

Seal up any gaps: A caulk gun and tube of caulk are an inexpensive way to combat cold air that may be sneaking into your home. Fill gaps around siding, windows, and doors to not only keep the drafts out, but also pests that may be trying to get indoors to a warmer climate.

Prune back tree branches: Tree branches (dead or alive) are more
likely to fall when weighed down with ice or snow, possibly damaging homes, gutters, cars, or even people. Remove any branches that overhang your home or driveway early in the season.
